What defines us is how well we rise after falling

Kadri Haljas
TRIUMF HEALTH
Kadri has a PhD degree in psychology and has worked as a child psychologist. It is her mission to help and support children in need. To follow her calling, she founded the startup Triumf Health in the end of 2016 in order to reach out to ill children by utilizing technological innovations. There was no other personalized solution available for ill children when she started. So essentially, she started from doing what's necessary and suddenly found herself doing the impossible.

Project

It is important to build a healthier future for our children. Especially in the light of the growing crisis of chronic illnesses among them. We believe that play allows children to use their creativity while developing their strength. That is why Triumf Health offers a personalized approach to improve treatment outcomes and empower ill children to live healthier lives by delivering digital therapeutics through a mobile game.

Impact story

Our solution is targeted to school-aged chronically ill children with cancer, diabetes, asthma or overweight. We have started from childhood cancer and have now successfully finished our first clinical study among patients aged 7-12 years. Our study, that was conducted in two hospitals, showed the benefits of play on patients' psychological well-being and quality of life. The findings indicate that game environment is a wonderful medium for delivering supportive comprehensive care to pediatric patients. And most importantly, we have proven that play is the way to healthier life.
